So much Latin music these days has got so watered down or slow. There's too much pandering to these Salsa dance classes, but we are here to keep stoking the fire and ensure we do our bit to make it exciting through our live performances and records.

We are trying to deliver the musical message that TITO PUENTE did and EDDIE PALMIERI does. We believe in the power and freedom of the Descarga - the Latin Jam.

It's been an interesting year as I have already visited Moscow and Dubai for the first time; I did a Mambo compilation of old Fania related recordings on Virgin called 'Afro-Cuban Kaleidascope' too, and I'm looking forward to doing many more for them, and up until May (over a year period) I had been playing percussion for the excellent Mark Ronson
The band are in the process of writing the new album (to be recorded in October), and i feel that we have written our strongest songs yet. Its the first album since 'New Beginnings' in 2004 (to read what people said about the latest album ‘New Beginnings’, click here.). To be honest, the record industry is in such a state because of millions of illegal downloads I lost inspiration, but I'm raring to go now, believe me!!!
Im involved in two funk album projects (which I can't talk about at the moment, a short movie soundtrack and a theme tune to something - which, again I'm not allowed to talk about.
My book on the UK Jazz Dance scene is finally finished and is currently being touted, and I will be lecturing on this subject at Yale University, Connecticut later on this year.
From a DJ perspective I was very honoured to have been included as one of the 40 most influential British black music DJ's of the last 40 years in the world's market - leading urban magazine Blues and Soul. I don't believe it myself, but it's lovely to have been thought of in that way.
