Notes:

The BASS CLEF was not the only Jazz Club in the 80's supporting Latin and African music but this legendary club did it in such a big way. There hasn't been a club like it since. When the owner, PETER IND, went bankrupt, ACID JAZZ owner EDDIE PILLER bought it (including the label) and opened it as THE BLUE NOTE which became one of the best and most stylish nightclub's in the 90's or possibly ever. But this album was recorded in WAVE studios above the BASS CLEF and all the bands were there to represent the club, we still weren't a live band then but this remains one of my all time favourite tracks. It is typical of the very hard and fast Samba Fusion that was being played in the Jazz Dance clubs then. For the 'batucada' section on the record, I was trying to recreate the one on SAMBITA by MONGO SANTAMARIA and I think I got pretty close. The Trombone player I had never met before that day or met since, but WHAT a trombone solo.

We tried to licence this track for my debut album RITMO SNOWBO but WAVE wouldn't let us have it, but ACID JAZZ ended up owning it anyway when EDDIE purchased the BASS CLEF and its contents. It finally appeared on THE BEST OF SNOWBOY in 1994 and on the latest compilation entitled BEYOND THE SNOWSTORM. Finally, I also appear on the two KING SALSA tracks on SALSA CON SALSA entitled ADIVINA and VEN.
